Dear Valued Customers and Community,

We at Rise of Dark Dawn do hope everyone is in great health and keeping themselves safe inside. We know the coronavirsus has a lot of people nervous; especially with so much false and weird information out there.  We are encouraging everyone to take care of themselves and keep up with new information on the World Health Organization and CDC website.  We wanted to make sure you were informed of some of the information we found out.

Patient Zero

According to BBC, Chinese authorities and other officials disagree on the origin, and patient zero (the first patient infected).  Originally it was thought to have been an elderly man who visited the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market; but he actually lived 4-5 bus stops away from the market and remained at home because he was sick.  By the time they realized they were dealing with something new, several people had already been infected. Researchers found that 27 of the 41 people initially discovered with the disease had been exposed to the market. We also read where is could have been a cow.  It seems we will not know exactly where point zero begins, but researches can focus on how to combat the virus.

Symptoms

According to WebMD, the coronavirus causes a respiratory tract infection that is spread person to person. For example, if a person coughs or sneeze, they can spray droplets as far as SIX FEET away. Breathing in or swallowing these droplets can affect your upper respiratory tract (nose, throat, sinuses) or lower respiratory tract (windpipe & lungs).

Symptoms can be mild:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Symptoms can be severe:

  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
  • Ongoing chest pain or pressure
  • New confusion
  • Can’t wake up
  • Bluish lips or face

If you feel you have been infected, seek help immediately. Breathing is something most people do not have to think about so can you imagine inhaling or swallowing someone else’s bodily fluids?

Protect Yourself

  • Wash your hands frequently – with soap and water or alcohol base hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth – to keep your hands from contamination
  • Maintain social distance – of someone coughing or sneezing
  • Practice good respiratory hygiene – by coughing into your elbow and sneezing into a tissue then dispose of the tissue right away
  • If you feel sick – stay home

Black People Skin is Resistant to COVID-19?

We have come across several weird subject matters regarding black people skin being resistant to coronavirus.  People actually believing that melanin has super natural ability to make it difficult to get COVID-19. Let’s keep in mind that COVID-19 is a respiratory virus that is contracted through droplets in the air. Please follow the above precautions to protect yourself and others because this virus could care less about someone’s skin color.

Few Deaths Versus Millions of Deaths

MPHOnline listed 10 of the workst pandemics in history, see below, that has wiped out millions. Unexpected death is saddening no matter what caused it. But how many deaths could have been prevented if people were just more aware, kept in form and a way to reach the masses.  Some people say the media hyped COVID-19 up to be more than what it is; although people are dying. The good thing about the media today is that it can reach millions of people across the country at one time.  This allows people to begin taking precautions now to protect themselves and their families.  You now have an increase of handwashing, awareness of spreading germs, covering mouths when coughing, etc.  Yes, the threat has caused some people to overreact by buying more toilet paper than they can use, but it has also taught people to be vigilant and precautions.

Let’s think about the previous pandemics that wiped out millions of people:

  • Flu pandemic, of 1889-1890, that killed about 1 million in one year
  • Six cholera pandemic, of 1910-1911, that killed over 800,000 in one year
  • Flu pandemic, of 1918-1920, that killed 20-50 million people in two years
  • Asian flu, of 1956-1958, that killed 2 million people in two years
  • Flu pandemic, of 1968, that killed 1 million people in one year

Knowing, or over knowing, will hopefully keep millions of people from dying versus a few in 2020.  People will also take the necessary precautions to prevent/slow the spread of the infection. People will also get the needed testing and treatment to save their lives and the lives of their love ones.  Now don’t get me wrong, We understand the media can get carried away sometimes, but ensuring everyone understands how serious and fast this virus can spread is worth weeding through the facts and non-facts. When you look at the history of what the flu and other viruses can do to a population, is the media causing a panic or reporting a warning of what could be? If we hear of anything new, we will keep you posted.

Whatever information you hear Rise of Dark Dawn customers and community, please error on the side of caution and take precautions to protect yourself and others during this time of discovery.  Maintain a healthy diet and exercise to help your body help you.
